Local artists featured at Des Moines Art Center

The public is invited to see "Ceramic Exhibition-2015" at the Des Moines Art Center,
featuring ceramic sculpture, hand-built, wheel-thrown and raku art work by students including Deb Jurshak of Murray, and Mary Ellen Kimball of Osceola, who are studying with professional artists Nancy Briggs, Linda Lewis and Jim Hubbartt.

The exhibit is open until Thursday, June 18, and is free to the public in the Adrienne and Charles Herbert Gallery at the Des Moines Art Center, 4700 Grand Ave. in Des Moines.

Guests may enter through the Education Wing entrance Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Deb Jurshak, Clarke Area Arts Council’s “Artist-of-the-Year,” had a solo art exhibit at Lakeside Casino during CAAC’s Spring Gala May 3. All arts council members received a frameable print of her sculpture, Lady Luck.

Mary Ellen Kimball’s art was recently exhibited at Dickenson Law Firm’s Invitational and featured in the Des Moines Register along with Deb Jurshak for Art in the Heights Festival.
