Mostkoff receives local, national accolades for her leadership

Norene Mostkoff, president and chief executive officer of HCI Care Services and Visiting Nurse Services of Iowa (VNS of Iowa) was honored with two prestigious awards recently for her exceptional leadership.

Mostkoff accepted the Outstanding Agency Leader award presented by Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) at its annual conference in New Orleans and the Individual Advocate Award at United Way of Central Iowa’s LIVE UNITED luncheon held in Altoona.

Mostkoff was chosen for the LIVE UNITED award for her advocacy for public policy changes at the state and national level as well as for her leadership on a variety of committees that improve the lives of Iowans. Following Mostkoff’s vision to ensure access to quality health care for vulnerable populations, VNS of Iowa received a $282,000 grant in 2014 to expand its Navigator program to cover 43 of Iowa’s 99 counties, home to approximately 69 percent of the uninsured in Iowa.

“United Way is proud to honor Norene Mostkoff with the 2015 individual Advocate award.  Her advocacy at the state and federal levels in Medicare/Medicaid reform, Early Start, the Workforce Investment Act and hospice governance have resulted in positive changes in public policy,” said United Way of Central Iowa President Mary Sellers.

Each year, VNAA, the national association of nonprofit visiting nurse agencies, home health care and hospice providers who care for about 4 million patients annually, recognizes individuals from affiliate member agencies who have made significant and meaningful contributions to advancing the industry.

Mostkoff was selected for the honor based on her commitment to hospice, opening the eyes of her board and staff to new possibilities and achieving positive quality metrics as a provider and employer.

“Norene Mostkoff is a very deserving recipient of our Outstanding Agency Leader award for 2015,” said VNAA spokesperson Ashley Durkin-Rixey. “She is not only a champion for the staff and patients of HCI Care Services and VNS of Iowa, but for the nonprofit home health and hospice care industry at large.”
