An accident was reported 8:35 p.m. Jan. 30 at the intersection of 320th Avenue and Clarke/Decatur Street.
According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, the sheriff’s office responded to an accident where a 1996 Jeep owned by Shari Lynne Boyce was engulfed with fire. After firefighters left the scene, Kyle Patrick Sutton, 24, of Osceola, came from a ditch and claimed to be the driver of the vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle, Danny Rater, verified Sutton was the driver.
Sutton was transported to Clarke County Hospital and then a hospital in Des Moines because of his injuries. Rater was arrested on other charges and taken to Clarke County Jail and Clarke County Hospital.
Sutton was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, second offense, operating without owner’s consent, driving while suspended, failure to have insurance and failure to maintain control.
Damage estimate is $5,000.
