Murray blood drive planned

MURRAY — This January, LifeServe Blood Center invites communities to celebrate National Blood Donor Month by giving a lifesaving blood donation.

National Blood Donor Awareness Month was named a Presidential Proclamation by President Richard Nixon in 1969.

This year, LifeServe Blood Center will continue the tradition and celebrate those donors who have made the commitment to help save lives in their community and welcome new first time donors who wish to make an impact at a local level.

Blood Donor Awareness Month creates awareness about the importance of the volunteer blood donor program and the impact blood donors can have in their communities. Join LifeServe at an upcoming blood drive and give a lifesaving gift to a child or adult in their critical time of need. Donors who give blood in January will receive a “Proud Blood Donor” window cling at the time of their donation.

• Murray Community Blood Drive is planned 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan.  8, at Murray Community Center, 416 Maple St.
