Marion ‘Wayne’ Ballard Woodburn

Marion “Wayne” Ballard, 63, of Woodburn died Aug. 7, 2014, at his home in Woodburn.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Woodburn Cemetery. The Rev. Terry Roberts will officiate. Interment will be in Woodburn Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. Memorials may be directed to his family. Marion “Wayne” Ballard, son of Goldie (Keller) and Merle Ballard, was born Feb. 3, 1951, in Washington.

Wayne married Nancy Lee Ballard.

Wayne lived most of his life in the Osceola, Weldon and Woodburn areas.

Wayne worked for United Contractors for more than 40 years.

Wayne is survived by his children, Russell Jacobs of Woodburn, fiancé Beth Kane of Woodburn, Jennifer Ballard of Weldon, Marion Ballard of Davenport and Charlie Joe Ballard of Iowa City; step-children, Kevin Obermeier of Weldon, Mike Obermeier of Weldon, Doreen and Brad (Suzanne) Obermeier of Indianola; siblings, Joyce (Jim) Crabel of Arkansas, Donnie (Isabelle) Ballard of Bennettsville, S.C., Mona (George) Vagelsang of Arkansas and Dennis (Jacky) Ballard of Mitchellville; step-sister Sandy (Steve) Hasbrook of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Sidney Marie Petals, Joseph Wayne Jacobs, Brian Lane (Brandie) McWilliams, Kelsey Carmen, Brett Leroy, Darren Michael, David Joseph, Corey Joseph, Jacklyn Christine and Elizabeth Rae Lee Obermeier, Shawn Luke Farmer, Cody Barnett and Gabriel Steffelbeen; great-grandchildren, Braydie Laney and Bradlie McWilliams, Audrianna Frazier, Dallas and Austin Clark, Lily Marie and Lane Leroy Obermeier, Gemily and one other on the way; son-in-law Mike Hespon, as well as other relatives and many friends.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cheyenne Steffelbeen; step-brothers, Dave and Don; daughter Jodie Lee Ballard and cousin Johnny Keller.
