Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 10:20 p.m. July 23 on Highway 69 near mile marker 49.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Joseph Eric Maxwell, 43, of Creston, driving a 2008 Ford north on Highway 69, struck a deer.

Damage estimate was $2,000.

No citations were issued after an accident 3:45 p.m. July 19 at the intersection of 110th Avenue and Clarke/Decatur Street.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Randell Lee Osborn, 47, of Des Moines, driving a1997 Oldsmobile west on Clarke/Decatur Street, swerved to miss a deer and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle rolled and came to a stop in the west ditch. Damage was reported to a county conservation sign.

Osborn was transported to the hospital in Creston.

Damage estimate is $3,000

No citations were issued after an accident 1:10 p.m. July 21 on 130th Avenue.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Pearl Mae Tyler, 34, of Osceola, driving a 2011 Mercury north on 130th Avenue, crossed the center line and went onto the west shoulder of the road.

Tyler overcorrected the vehicle, went back across the road and entered the east ditch. The vehicle continued north in the ditch and hit a driveway, which caused it to overturn. The vehicle came to a stop on its tires.

Tyler was transported to Clarke County Hospital for observation.

Damage estimate is $6,000.

No citations were reported after an accident 1:45 p.m. July 17 in the 1700 block of Clarke/Union Avenue.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Andrew Shawn Gordon, 17, of Creston, driving a 1996 Ford south on Clarke/Union Avenue, heard the vehicle’s front tire blow out. Gordon lost control of the vehicle and entered the east ditch.

There were no injuries reported. Damage estimate is $1,500.

No citations were reported after an accident 10:45 a.m. July 12 on Kansas Street.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Drew Marcus Wishon, 19, of Osceola, driving a 1997 Mitsubishi east on Kansas Street without driving in the washout on the north side of the road.

Wishon skidded and slowed the vehicle, but struck the tires of a John Deere sprayer owned by Farmers Cooperative Company and driven by Michael Burnison Stuck, 57, of Grand River.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimate is $2,000 to Wishon’s vehicle and no damage reported to the sprayer.

No citations were reported after an accident 1 a.m. July 12 at the intersection of Garden Street and 220th Avenue.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Allen James Ruth, 27, of Murray, driving a 1995 Mercury, approached the intersection of Garden Street and 220th Avenue. Apparently, the vehicle’s brakes failed. The vehicle entered the ditch, rolled several times and came to a stop on its wheels.

Ruth had left the scene of the accident by the time law enforcement arrived. After making contact with Ruth, it was determined no injuries occurred.

Damage estimates are $2,000 to the vehicle and $400 to the fence owned by Marlin Eddy.
