Kenneth Blair Osceola

Kenneth Blair, 86, of Osceola died May 27, 2014, at Homestead Assisted Living in Osceola.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Kenney Linhart officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Kenneth Wayne Blair, son of Edith Florence (Levell) and William Charles Blair, was born Nov. 14, 1927, in Warren County.

Kenny attended country school in Warren and Clarke counties.

Kenny entered the U.S. Army in the fall of 1950.

While on leave, he returned home and married to Helen Louise Kennedy on Dec. 11, 1950, in New Virginia.

Kenny served during the Korean War until his discharge in June 1952.

Kenny returned home, where he and Helen farmed in rural Warren County, later moving to a farm in Knox Township in Clarke County.

Kenny later became involved in cattle buying, which became his main livelihood. He attended cattle auctions across southern Iowa.

In 1991, Kenny and Helen moved to Osceola. Kenny continued to work as a cattle buyer.

Kenny was a former member of the Osceola Eagles, New Virginia Legion and Clarke Community School Board.

Kenny is survived by his daughters, Peggy (Dan) Perkins of Atlantic, Kathy (Mike) Kelly of Osceola and Chris (Don) Williams of Osceola; son Kenny Wayne (Cathy) Blair of Osceola; grandchildren, Michelle (Mark) Galloway of Muscatine, Mark (Brandi) Dunbar of Osceola, Ryan Dunbar of Norwalk, Gabe Kelly, currently serving in Iraq, Cade (Tara) Kelly of Waukee, Jordanna Kelly of West Des Moines, Keysto Kelly of West Des Moines, Jaime (Eric) Jensen of Des Moines, Scott (Stephanie) Williams of New Virginia, Amanda Blair of Elkhorn, Neb., and Amelia, Alicia and Alexxa Blair, all of Osceola; great-grandchildren, Michael, Morgan, Julian, Alex, Kiaya, Joselyn, Kanter, Grant, Nolan, Bella, Maliya, Ethan, Mitchell, Owen, Evan, Ian and Elin; brother Max (Mary) Blair of New Virginia; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandchild Jarod Patrick Kelly, brother William “Billy” Blair; and sisters, Evelyn Barthalomew and Joan Martin.
