Clarke boys improve to 7-0
The Clarke boys tennis team improved to 7-0 for the season wtih wins of 7-2 over Albia on May 1 and 8-1 over Creston/O-M on Friday.
In the win over Albia, Colin Morris was an 8-4 winner at No. 1 singles and Jared Jamison won 8-5 at No. 2 singles.
At No. 4 singles, Jacob Redman won 9-8 (7-5). Ali Aly picked up an 8-6 win at No. 5 singles and Holden Hewitt was an 8-3 winner at No. 6 singles.
In doubles play, Morris and Jamison won 8-6 over the No. 1 doubles team of Hobie Hein and Austin O'Leary. Yahia Aly and Redman lost 9-8 (7-3) at No. 2 doubles, and Rodrigo Mayorga and Trevor Kirkpatrick picked up an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles over Skylar Hoover and Noah Belt.
The only loss for the Indians in the 8-1 win over Creston/O-M came at No. 1 singles, where Garret Taylor was a 10-7 winner over Morris.
Jamison was a 10-1 winner at No. 2 singles and Yahia Aly won 10-3 at No. 3 singles. Redman and Ali Aly both won their matches 10-0, and Hewitt won by forfeit.
In doubles play, Morris and Jamison won 10-5 over Taylor and Chantz Davidson. Yahia Aly and Redman won 10-1 over Ryan Kucera and Tyler Waddingham. Ali Aly and Hewitt won by forfeit.
Meanwhile, the Clarke girls now sit at 5-2 for the season after a 9-0 win over Southwest Valley on May 1 and a 5-4 loss to Creston/O-M on Friday.
Libby Bemis, Tracy Morgan and Cassidy Bierbrodt all won 8-0 over their opponents in the win over Southwest Valley. Macey Snell won 8-5, while Sydnee Redman won 8-3 and Rachael Simpson was an 8-4 winner.
In doubles play, Morgan and Bierbrodt won 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while the teams of Bemis and Snell and Redman and Simpson both won 8-0.
Against Creston/O-M, the Lady Indians found themselves in a 4-2 hole after singles play, but battled back to give themselves a chance to win, taking the first two doubles matches to make the score 4-4.
But the Panthers won at No. 3 doubles, as Alli Thomsen and Angela Sorensen won 10-2 over Redman and Simpson to complete the Panther victory.
Singles winners for Clarke were Bemis at No. 1 singles, 10-4, and Bierbrodt at No. 3 singles, 10-7.
