Linhart, Patton qualify for Drake Relays

DES MOINES — Central Decatur's Hallie Linhart and Murray's Kate Patton qualified for the 2014 Drake Relays to be held at Drake Stadium April 24-26.

Linhart earned one of the 24 qualifying spots in the high school girls high jump competition.

The Central Decatur junior enters the Drake Relays competition with the seventh best jump in the state for all classes, having cleared 5-3.75 at Centerville on April 10.

Alexis Conaway of MOC-Floyd Valley is the state leader in the event, with a jump of 5-8.

Linhart will jump at 3 p.m. Thursday. She is the 10th jumper in the order.

Patton runs at 8:31 a.m. Friday in the 100 meter dash prelims.

Patton ended the qualification period in a three-way tie for 31st. The top 32 in the 100 meter dash qualify for the Drake Relays.

But, Patton was selected as one of two representatives from that tie to compete in the Drake Relays.

She will run out of lane eight in heat one on Friday morning. If she makes the finals, she will run at 12:11 p.m. on Friday.
