Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 8:30 p.m. March 14 on Highway 69.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Debra Lynn Soper, 55, of Osceola, driving a 2005 Ford north on Highway 69, struck a deer. The impact caused damage to the hood and front bumper of Soper’s vehicle. Soper proceeded to her residence before reporting the accident. The accident wasn’t investigated at the scene.

Damage estimate is $1,500.

No citations were issued after an accident 5:50 a.m. March 20 at 2450 Mormon Trail.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Kimberly Ann Audlehelm, 41, of Des Moines, driving a 2002 Saturn west on Mormon Trail, lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle entered the north ditch and rolled two times before coming to a stop on its wheels.

Audlehelm was ejected from the vehicle and transported by air ambulance in Des Moines because of injuries.

Damage estimate is $12,000.

No citations were issued after an accident 8:10 a.m. March 22 on Interstate 35 near mile-marker 36.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Hannah Rose Schmitt, 18, of Stratford, Wis., driving a 2006 Chrysler north on Interstate 35, heard a noise from the underside of her vehicle. The vehicle then hit seven yellow construction barriers on the south side of the Highway 152 overpass.

Schmitt was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and struck a concrete barrier that was placed on the edge of the median for construction on the overpass.

Damage estimates are $5,000 to the vehicle owned by Amy J. Schmitt and $3,500 to the seven yellow plastic barriers.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Randy Joe Showers, 57, of Woodburn, driving a 2009 Dodge north on county road R-59, struck a deer.

Damage estimate is $3,500.

No citations were issued after an accident 1:35 p.m. March 23 in the 1000 block of Highway 34.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Diane Lou Jensen, 60, of Grinnell, driving a 2012 Cadillac east on Highway 34, struck a deer.

Damage estimate is $2,500.

No citations were issued after an accident 10:15 a.m. March 25 at the intersection of Scott Street and 310th Avenue.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, Evan Ray Kibbe, 53, of New Virginia, driving a 1993 Ford south on Scott Street, stopped his vehicle at the intersection’s stop sign and noticed some cows were out.

Kibbe proceeded to back his vehicle up into a farm drive and struck a 1999 Dodge pickup driven by Wyatt Matthew Selsor, 38, of New Virginia.

Kibbe reported the accident to the sheriff’s office.

Damage estimate is $2,000 to Selsor’s vehicle and no reported damage to Kibbe’s vehicle.
