Doyle Kentner, 83, of Osceola died March 19, 2014, at Legacy Lodge in Chariton, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
A service in celebration of his life was held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Dr. Al Adams officiated. Memorials may be given in Doyle’s name to First Christian Church of Osceola. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.
Doyle Lavern Kentner, son of J. Roy and Jennie Kentner, was born March 4, 1931, in rural Clarke County.
Doyle was educated in rural schools in Clarke County and graduated from Osceola High School in 1949.
In 1954, Doyle married Juanita Cunningham.
After graduating from high school, he began his career applying siding to homes and buildings, before later moving on to woodworking. For many years he traveled throughout the state of Iowa to remodel kitchen cabinets.
In his later years, Doyle was an employee at Evelyn’s Guest Home in Osceola.
Doyle is survived by his brother Harold (wife Doris) of Osceola; sister-in-law Wilma of Osceola; son Donald of Indianola; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Doyle was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Clair; and sisters, Reva and Alice.
