Sylvia Baumfalk Orient

Sylvia Baumfalk, 70, of Orient died Feb. 27, 2014.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. Sheldon Lorenson officiated. Committal was in Greenfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to her family for expenses. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Sylvia Marlene Baumfalk, daughter of Marjorie Sylvia (Yarrington) and Karl Eldon Brownlee, was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Fontanelle.

Sylvia received her education at Greenfield High School and furthered her education in later years by completing her GED. 

On June 17, 1961, Sylvia married Norris Fredrick Baumfalk in Greenfield.

After her school years, Sylvia worked cleaning houses and was a homemaker during the time her children were home. She also made crafts, ceramics and went to several craft shows during her homemaking years. Sylvia later worked as a nurses assistant at Good Samaritan in Fontanelle and lastly at B&B Guest Home in Osceola.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Fred (Angela) Baumfalk of Murray, Karl (Amy) Baumfalk of North English, Larry (Ronnie) Baumfalk of Afton, Terry Baumfalk of Murray, Christine (John Roth) Baumfalk-Smith of Indianola and Darrin (Toni) Baumfalk of Woodburn; grandchildren, Seth, Abbe, Nichole, William, Hannah, Levi, Cheyenne, Harley, Maeci, Jalie,Chelsey, Cassie, Christopher (Stevie) and Kindra; great-grandchild Landon; brothers, Russell (Patty) Brownlee of Osage Beach, Mo.; sisters, Darlene (Dale) Bowman of Corning and Charlene (Morris) Swain of Griswold; sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Fritz) Coyle of Greenley, Colo., Glenda Brownlee of Orient, Carolyn Brownlee of Massena; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Robert and Ronald Brownlee; sisters-in-law, Mavis (Dale) Spilker and Letha (Russ) Grimes; nephew Kevin Spilker and niece Barbara White.
