Loren Church Murray

Loren Church, 68, of Murray died Feb. 28, 2014, at his home near Murray.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. Brian McCracken will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola. Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Loren John Church, son of Nadine (Proctor) and Earnest Church, was born Nov. 30, 1945, near Cambria.

Loren grew up on farms in Lucas and Decatur counties in Iowa and attended Chariton Schools. He graduated from Central Decatur High School in 1964. 

On Jan. 3, 1969, Loren married Judy Ann Roberts in Kirksville, Mo.

They lived in Des Moines and on a farm near Cumming, prior to moving to their farm near Murray in 1980.

He worked 20 years as an over-the-road truck driver. He went to work for Clarke County in 1986, operating a road grader maintaining secondary roads. He retired in 2008 after 22 years to farm full time.  

Loren is survived by his wife Judy Church of Murray, father Earnest Church of Chariton; sons, Adam (wife Tammy) Church of Osceola, Clint (wife Dana) Church of Muscatine and Charley (wife Charla) Church of Murray; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (husband Bob) McGee of Indianola, Connie (husband Paul) Prough of Chariton and Mary (husband Craig) Jeffries of Overland Park, Kan.; brother Bill (wife Jo) Church of Tolono, Ill., several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Loren was preceded in death by his mother; infant twin sisters, Joann and Janet Church; grandparents, Loren and Helen Proctor and John and Sarah Church; father-in-law Donald Roberts and nephew Marc Church.
