Lurene Brammer Osceola

Lurene Brammer, 98, of Osceola died Feb. 25, 2014, at Southern Hills Specialty Care.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Marty Burgus officiated. Interment was in Grand River Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to HCI Care Services of Osceola. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Lena Lurene Brammer, daughter of Helen (Baker) and Fred VanLaar, was born July 17, 1915, in Grand River.

Lurene received her education at Grand River Schools.

On Sept. 30, 1933, Lurene married Carl Franklin Brammer at the Christian Church parsonage in Osceola.

After their marriage, Carl and Lurene lived in Liberty and Grand River.

In 1937, they rented a farm near Jay, where they farmed until 1943, when they returned to Grand River.

In 1949, they moved to a farm near Murray, where they remained for 47 years.

Seventeen years ago they relocated to Osceola.

Lurene is survived by her daughters, Carlene (George) Burnett of Murray and Cathlene (Gary) Jones of Osceola; grandchildren, Lynette (Phil) Glidden of Canyon Lake, Texas, LeAnn (Rob) Frizzell of Holden, Mo., Darrin (Christine) Brown of Grimes and Christopher (Jessi) Brown of Winterset; great-grandchildren, Hannah Weatherly of Lees Summit, Mo., Emily and Kylie Brown of Grimes and Bailey, Presley and Harper Brown of Winterset; brothers, Raymond (Anne) VanLaar and Donald (Merna) VanLaar, all of Grand River; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Lurene was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2005; sisters, Dorothy Jenkins and Lucile Kraus; and brother John VanLaar.
