Vera Klemme, 93, of Osceola died Feb. 18, 2014, at Clarke County Hospital.
Services were 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. Chaplain Emery McDonald officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Vera Maxine Klemme, daughter of Mary Edith (Marshall) and James Milton Mart, was born June 26, 1920, in Garden Grove. Vera was raised by her grandmother Julia Marshall after her mother died when Vera was six months old.
Vera received her education at LeRoy and Weldon schools.
On Aug. 20, 1936, Vera married Paul Edward McWilliams.
After Paul's death, she later married Raymond Hoyt Klemme on Sept. 6, 1958.
Vera and Hoyt owned and operated Klemme Motel and Cafe in Osceola, and then she also worked at Robinsons for several years.
Vera played the piano and taught Sunday school at Weldon Christian Church and later attended the First Christian Church in Osceola and most recently Broadhorn Community Church.
Vera is survived by her sons, Richard "Dick" (Juanita) McWilliams of Osceola and Don Klemme of Des Moines; daughters, Bette (Denny) Farlow-Miller, Kathy (Jim) Richards and Marilyn (Steve) Wilkins, all of Osceola; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, Anne (Jack) McDonough of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Mary Ellen Mart of Indianola, as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, first husband in 1955, second husband in 1990; brothers, Murray (Virginia) Mart and Leland (Mary) Mart; stepson Bill Klemme; and grandparents, Owen and Julia Marshall.
