Dorthy Bowlsby, 83, of Osceola died Feb. 11, 2014, at her home.
Services were 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Cass Young officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.
Dorthy Marie Bowlsby, daughter of Ida Pearl (Driver) and Milo Clifton Smith, was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Clarke County.
On Nov. 17, 1951, Dorthy married Clyde Wilber Bowlsby at Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines.
Dorthy worked in the home.
Dorthy attended Calvary Bible Church in Osceola.
Dorthy is survived by her daughters, Katherine (Greg) Martin of Allendale, Mich., Sharon (Carl) Mattson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Susan (Steve) Proctor of Webster City; son Jerry (Faith) Bowlsby of Hospers; grandchildren, Kim (Doug) Short, Kris (Casey) Wyatt, David (Alex) Adair, Daniel Adair, Ashley Slowinski, Jessica (Josh) Kelly, Michael Mattson, Leah Mattson, Sarah (Michael) Andrews, Elisha (Daryn) Bates, Brad (Holly) Proctor, Jeremy (Courtney) Bowlsby, Josh (Carrie) Bowlsby, Justin Bowlsby, Jared (Crystal) Bowlsby and Hailey Bowlsby; great-grandchildren, Darian, Kailey, Kiera, Brianna, Daniel, Jeffrey, J.J., Ryan, Emma, Izabella, Jadie, Penelope, Kaya, Joycelyn, Jackson, Jamison and Jade; and siblings, Virginia Pfander, Paul Smith, Marjorie Reynolds, William Smith, Twyla (Francis) Mathis, Donald Smith, Kenneth Smith and Lucy (Stubbs); other relatives and many friends.
Dorthy was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, daughter Debra Wilkins, grandson Joey Wilkins, great-granddaughter Lucy Mae Bowlsby; brothers, Russel and John Smith; and sisters, Florence Smith, Shirley Smith and Mary White.
