Angela R. Markley (Angie) of Lexington (formerly of Weldon, IA) died peacefully on February 8, 2014, surrounded by loved ones at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, KS.
Angie was born on January 10, 1965, in Lexington and is survived by her parents Alvin Lee and Charlotte Markley of Dover, MO and Joan (Ryun) and Don Bere of Higginsville; her children, Kimmi Markley and Devon Ahrens of Lexington, Tannor Schuldt and Bailie Smith of Van Wert, IA, and Tommy Bere of the home. She was the sister of Rebecca Markley, Lexington; Steve and Rose Markley, Marshall; Jacque and Jim Wiskur of Holden; Brian and Amy Short of Prairie Village, KS; Melissa and Dave Scott of Lexington; and Brandy and George Roy of Springfield. She was a beloved Grandmother to Jordius and Jayace Himbury of Lexington, MO and to all the children she loved at her job as Kitchen Manager with Central Decatur Community School District in Leon, Iowa. She is also survived by her long-time companion, Shawn Jackson, and his four sons and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Markley and Ryun families.
Angie loved her family, animals, cheeseburgers, Pepsi, orange sherbet, Busch lite, and to laugh. She hated dressing up; applesauce, yogurt, pretty much all pureed food; and cruelty of any kind.
A memorial service is scheduled on Saturday, February 15, at Nadler Fuller Funeral Home in Lexington, MO at 3 p.m. Family and friends are asked to bring a covered dish to the Lexington Moose Lodge following the service to celebrate Angie’s love of good food, people, and laughter. In addition, the family is requesting a written favorite memory that will be opened as a Christmas gift from Angie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family or to Furry Kids Refuge, a nonprofit organization with volunteers who have graciously fostered her beloved dogs during her illness.
