Clarke County Farm Bureau scholarships available

It is time once again for high-school seniors to apply for numerous scholarships available in the county.

Clarke County Farm Bureau is offering two $250 scholarships to seniors whose family holds a Clarke County Farm Bureau membership. You may pick up your application at your school guidance office, stop by the Clarke County Farm Bureau office at 2215 N. Main St. or call Leola at 641-342-6066 and have one mailed to your home address.

Also available: Ruth B. Sayre Scholarship

This memorial scholarship of $500 is offered for the purpose of fostering educational development of women.

The application is available at the iowafarmbureau.com website under the Members Only tab, My Membership, Member Benefits, then Scholarships. Or, to get more information, log on to www.cwcusa.org. The application is due by March 1 to the Iowa Master Farm Homemakers-President Leah Maas, and will be forwarded to the Country Women's Council for judging.

The applicant must be a woman and a legal resident of the U.S. who shows financial need and the ability to complete her education. Two character reference letters, an official transcript of high school and college courses completed, one-page summary of participation in school and community, work experience, educational goals and financial need and picture of applicant are required to be attached to the two-page application.

Also available: Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship

This $1000 renewable scholarship is available to Farm Bureau member families. Students will find the application under the Members Only section of iowafarmbureau.com, select My Membership, under Member Benefits select Scholarships.

The application is available on the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation website in a working PDF format. Handwritten applications submitted to IFBF will not be accepted.

Among other eligibility guidelines applicants must be working toward a degree in an occupational area of agriculture and/or agribusiness listed on the application. The five-page application will need to be typed and accompanied by two character reference letters and other noted financial information.

The completed application should be turned in to the Clarke County Farm Bureau office by March 3. Clarke County Farm Bureau will select two top applications to forward on to the IFBF office by Wednesday, March 19.

Several Clarke County Farm Bureau members have been recipients of these scholarships over the years and would encourage seniors to be sure to apply for them as they are qualified.
