Beverly Smith Woodburn

Beverly Smith, 67, of Woodburn, died Jan. 8, 2014, at her home.

Memorial services will be at a later date. Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola, was in charge of cremation. Memorials may be directed to her family. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Beverly Jean Smith, daughter of Thelma Lucille (Jones) and James Rufus McDowell, was born Jan. 17, 1946, in Leon.

Beverly has lived most of her life in the Osceola area. She lived a few years in the Sioux City area from 1975 until 1988, when she returned to Osceola.

Beverly was a nurse and worked at Clarke County Hospital and Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola.

Beverly is survived by her daughter Gina (Rodney) Hommer of Osceola, sister Beatrice Peterson of Osceola; grandchildren, Tori (Jesse) Heilman, Reva Hommer and Justin Hommer; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Johnathon, Colt, Rollie (Johnathan) and Kierstin; mother Thelma Lucille McDowell of Osceola, ex-husband and close friend Kenneth Smith of Osceola, brother-in-law Robert McDole; nieces and nephews, Wayne, Jeannette, Jeff, Jeannie, Jennifer and Jodi; as well as numerous great-nieces, and -nephews and many other relatives.

Beverly was preceded in death by her father, infant son Bryan Keith Smith, sister Bernice McDole, half-brother Jim McDowell and nephew Jesse McDole.
