High marks for Clarke County Hospital

Last week’s newspaper had a story about Lucas County Health Center (LCHC) being recognized by Press Ganey for notable patient satisfaction scores in their emergency department.

At Clarke County Hospital, we are happy for them and acknowledge the hard work they’ve put into achieving this honor. It is great for their community to have a place like LCHC to go for their emergency needs.

Achieving national recognition is a team effort and requires dedication from every staff member to provide consistent quality care for all who walk through the door.

But, you don’t have to look too far for quality care in this community. Clarke County Hospital has been commended multiple times for excellent health care service.

Comparing apples to apples, Press Ganey ranked Clarke County Hospital emergency department within the top 4 percent (96th percentile) of U.S. hospitals for quality care in 2012 and in the 93rd percentile in 2013.

Additionally, Clarke County Hospital was presented with the National Rural Healthcare Organization of the Month in March 2013 and the 2013 Excellence in Patient Care award. Recognized as an employer, Clarke County Hospital was included on the 2012 and 2013 Des Moines Register Top 100 Work Places in Iowa.

Beyond the emergency department, our other service areas also received high marks from Press Ganey in 2013:

• 97th percentile in outpatient services

• 95th percentile in diagnostic imaging

• 93rd percentile in hospital stay services

• 90th percentile in ambulatory surgery

To conclude, Clarke County Hospital continually performs in the top quartile in all of our service lines.

“Excellence Close To Home” isn’t just a slogan, it is who we are. The people we care for every day are our families, friends and neighbors. We constantly strive for excellence because of the people we care for deserve no less.
