Byron England, 87, of Osceola died Dec. 26, 2013, at Clarke County Hospital.
Cremation services were arranged by Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. A memorial graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date. Byron Myles England, son of Neva Charlotte (Grimm) and Ira Alvin England, was born Jan. 16, 1926, in Des Moines.
Byron grew up in Guthrie County, where he graduated from Panora High School.
He entered the U.S. Army in March of 1944, during World War II.
While on leave, Byron returned to Guthrie Center, where he married Kathryn Whitney on Sept. 16, 1945.
Byron returned to the Army and was honorably discharged in April 1946.
Kay and Byron lived in Osceola the past 57 years.
Byron retired from Blues Cross Blue Shield after 30 years as an agent in South Central Iowa.
Byron was a member of Osceola First Christian Church. He formerly was a member of Osceola Lions Club and Osceola Country Club.
Byron is survived by his wife Kathryn “K” of Osceola, son Darwin (Sharon) England of Fredricktown, Mo.; daughter Kathy (Gene) McKnight of Osceola; six grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren, brother James (Ruby) England of Florida, as well as other relatives and many friends.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Betty Bever and Barbara White.
