Clarke bowlers roll past CD

LEON — Both the Clarke boys and girls bowling teams picked up wins over Central Decatur here on Dec. 12.

The boys team defeated the Cardinals 2446-2253, after building a 283-pin lead after round one.

Central Decatur’s Nathan Harrah recorded both the single-game high and the two-game high for the day with a high game of 214 and a series of 377.

But, Clarke’s cluster pushed the Indians past the Cardinals.

Adam Smith led the way with a total of 357, followed closely by Jacob Redman’s 345. Damon Helgevold rolled a 316 and Geo Smith bowled a two-game total of 310. Cody Kjellsen recorded a 246 to round out the scoring, while Gordon Witt finished with a 242.

In comparison, only one other Central Decatur bowler joined Harrah with a score higher than 300, as David Huppert bowled a 338.

On the girls side, Clarke had no problems with Central Decatur, winning 1938-1296.

LeeAnn Helgevold led the way for Clarke, bowling the high game of the day with a 166 and the high two-game series with a total of 301. Courtney Clark bowled games of 161 and 109 for a series of 270.

Bronwyn Miller finished with a total of 256, while Sara Andrew rolled a 248. Elly Eddy rounded out the team scoring with a series of 228, while Dakota Davis bowled a 219.
