CCH awarded for high scores in patient care

Clarke County Hospital recently received a 2013 Excellence in Patient Care Award for top patient satisfaction scores related to physician communication.

To measure patient satisfaction, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) surveys all patients with Medicare to rate and comment about the care they receive. These scores are publicly reported and allow valid comparisons between hospitals regionally and nationally. Patients ranked Clarke County Hospital within the top 8 percent of all U.S. hospitals for the “Doctor Always Communicated Well” category.

“I am proud of our physicians and medical staff for the quality care and education they give our patients,” said Brian Evans, chief-executive officer of Clarke County Hospital. “Clarke County Hospital is dedicated to give our community quality service, and I’m honored this recognition proves our medical staff among the best in the country.”

Clarke County Hospital also ranked within the top ten percent of all U.S. hospitals for the following patient satisfaction categories in 2013:

• Nurse communication

• Hospital environment: Cleanliness and quietness

• Responsiveness of hospital staff

• Communication about medications

• Discharge information compliance

The 2013 Excellence in Patient Care Award is sponsored by the Studer Group, a private agency dedicated to improve clinical, operational and financial outcomes for hospitals and healthcare organizations. Clarke County Hospital received an Excellence in Patient Care Award in 2012 for superior scores in quality care provided by the emergency department.
