Burt F. Paul age 76 of Council Bluffs passed away at The Nebraska Medical Center on December 10, 2013 after a yearlong illness with kidney disease.
Burt was born October 6, 1937 to Florence (Powell) Paul and Lloyd Paul in Osceola, Iowa. He enjoyed scouts growing up and achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout. He attended Osceola schools and Drake University. He married Marilyn Mathews August 31, 1956. A daughter Debra was born December 5, 1957.
Burt started his sales and marketing career in Osceola working at Paul’s Clothing, then Olivetti Underwood, and Standard Knitting Mills. He worked tirelessly on the school board, Chamber of Commerce and was a Rotarian and active member of the First Christian Church.
In 1992 Burt moved to Las Vegas and became sales manager of Granite World Ltd. which he grew to a multi-million dollar business.
Burt loved to travel and meet people. His marketing jobs took him all over the world. He was a devoted husband and father and a treasured mentor to his family.
Burt was preceded in death by his parents Florence and Lloyd Paul and brother-in-law Calvin Halvorsen.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Paul, daughter Debbie Barrier and husband John of Council Bluffs, sister Vicki Halvorsen of Eldora, Iowa, brother Charles (Chris) Paul of Osceola, Iowa and many relatives and friends. Extended family includes Linda Crawford, Kevin Kilkenny, Bill Kilkenny, AFS student Rosy Habousha, and Julia Balsamo and all their families.
He has been cremated and a celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date in Osceola, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family and a fitting tribute will be made later.
