What's Santa really like?

Santa Claus does an exclusive interview for Osceoa Sentinel-Tribune

With Christmas fast approaching, Santa Claus is busy at the North Pole making sure things are ready for his trip around the world Christmas Eve.

However, Santa Claus took some time out of his hectic schedule to do an interview with Amy Hansen, news editor of the Osceola Sentinel-Tribune (OST).

If you ever wanted an inside scoop on jolly old St. Nick, here’s your chance.

OST: How do you really get around the world in one night?

Santa Claus: It's because of the hearts of the little kids. That's the way it should be. That's the reason why I can make it around to everybody.

OST: What's the most challenging part of your job? Is it the chimneys? Fireplaces? Snowy weather?

Santa Claus: The cold weather gets to me. It gets to me just like everybody else.

OST: What's your favorite cookie?

Santa Claus: Mrs. Claus' brownies.

OST: What snacks do the reindeer like best?

Santa Claus: Carrots — to protect their eyesight.

OST: Is there a toy this year a lot of children have asked for?

Santa Claus: They're asking for a computer tablet this year. When I was young, I enjoyed electric trains.

OST: Do Santa and Mrs. Claus have a big family?

Santa Claus: A little kid recently asked Mrs. Claus that. The elves are like family. That's our family.

OST: What's it like living at the North Pole?

Santa Claus: It's awful cold, but we're inside most of the time. We have good and warm fireplaces. We don't notice it that much. The elves are awfully busy throughout the year making toys. Mrs. Claus spends most of her time baking for the elves — breakfasts, dinners and suppers for them. When it gets really cold at night, we have a place to let the reindeer in.

OST: What is your favorite part of the holiday season?

Santa Claus: I think probably watching little children because I get caught up in the holiday spirit. My thoughts are also with all the little children who aren't well. My thoughts are with the little kids and their families this time of year. I see everybody for Christmas.

OST: What do you do after the holidays? Is it vacation time?

Santa Claus: I might go down to Florida for a weekend to get away from the snow and cold.
