Daniel Steven Rater, 42, of Chariton was charged with assault causing bodily injury 3 a.m. Nov. 20.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, as of Nov. 20, Rater is being held in Clarke County Jail.


James Russell Nicodemus, 55, of Council Bluffs was charged with driving while revoked 8 p.m. Nov. 16.

Nicodemus was released from Clarke County Jail by the magistrate.


Ryan Eugene Rychnovsky, 21, of Creston was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated 1:36 a.m. Nov. 16.

Rychnovsky was arraigned and released on bond.


Tom Hofbauer of Moorland reported a 4-foot wooden bear was taken from his farm house in Clarke County between Aug. 22 and Nov. 19.

Loss estimate was $250.

According to a Clarke County Sheriff’s report, the wooden bear was advertised on Craig’s List and law enforcement recovered the bear.

The incident is being investigated by Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.
