Phillip Blunt, 73, of Murray died Oct. 22, 2013.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Murray Church of Christ. The Rev. Brian McCracken officiated. Interment was in Union Cemetery in Clarke County. Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute to be decided at a later date. Phillip Ray Blunt, son of Elizabeth (O’Dell) and Ray Blunt, was born Feb. 10, 1940, in Adel.
Phillip graduated from Murray High School in 1958.
Soon after graduation, Phil enlisted and served in the United States Navy.
During his time in the service, on Nov. 11, 1960, Phil married Marilyn Husted in Long Beach, Calif.
Phil spent a number of years doing carpenter work and painting, but had most recently driven for Southern Iowa Trolley for 13 years.
Phil is survived by his wife Marilyn Blunt of Murray, son Keith (Bridget) Blunt of Evansville, Ind.; daughter Shari (Randy) Myers of Maryville, Mo.; grandchildren, Allyson and Adam Blunt and Alex and Vanessa Myers; sister Donna (Don) Harvey of Bern, Kan.; brothers, David Blunt of Hiawatha, Kan., and Dean (Iris) Baird of Normal,
Ill.; brother-in-law Dean Husted of Osceola, sister-in-law Mary Husted of Texas, other relatives and many friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents; foster parents, James and Thyra Baird; brothers, Charles O’Dell and Lawrence Blunt; brothers-in-law, Jerry and Don Husted; and mother- and father-in-law, Nila and Leonard Husted.
