CCH Physical Therapy Charity Walk raises money for children

Professional Physical Therapy, Inc. at Clarke County Hospital is hosting its ninth-annual charity walk/run event through the month of November. This year, all donations will support the “Backpack Buddies” program that supplies breakfasts and dinners in local schools for children in need.

This year’s event is not a competitive race, but a way for people to engage in a healthy lifestyle.

“We wanted to promote wellness and encourage an active lifestyle through an event that lasted longer than a day,” said Travis Krutsinger, PTA, chief-executive officer of Professional Physical Therapy, Inc. “This year, participants can set their own pace and achieve as much as a marathon (26.2 miles) if they walked one mile every day for a month.”

The cost is free to participate, but donations toward the “Backpack Buddies” program are encouraged. At registration, individuals will receive an exercise log to keep track of the total miles they accomplish through November. At the end of the month, participants will receive a free t-shirt and award certificate when they return the exercise log.

“We’re all winners in this race, and we will reward every participant.” Krutsinger said. “The importance is not on the distance, but in the fact we are helping the children in our community – and improving our health through exercise.”

People of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. To register, call 641-342-5340, email pt@clarkehosp.org or visit the physical therapy office in Clarke County Hospital at 800 S. Fillmore St. in Osceola. The last day to sign up is Nov. 29.
