Helen Howard St. Charles

Helen Howard, 87, of St. Charles died Oct. 17, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at St. Charles Parish. The Rev. John Lewis officiated. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery. Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to Mercy Hospice in Johnston or St. Charles Parish.

Helen Howard, daughter of Gladys (Hays) and Cleo J. Gamble, was born Jan. 8, 1926, in Winterset.

Helen received her education in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School.

Helen married Robert “Bob” Dean Howard.

Helen lived in the St. Charles area all her life.

Helen and Bob were members of St. Charles Parish and taught Sunday School and sponsored the youth group for many years. They were also Sunday school superintendents for many years. Helen was also a member of Model Chapter No. 174 Order of the Eastern Star in St. Charles.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Diana (Kevin) Lindsey, Linda Pound (Paul Madsen), Roxanne (Dennis) Beeler and Melanie (Roger) Ritchey; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren plus two on the way and many other relatives and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.
