Employees from the Osceola Hy-Vee store are among more than 2,400 Hy-Vee employees honored for achieving new service milestones in 2013.
Hy-Vee’s Service Awards program, now in its 49th year, recognizes employees for continuous service to the company. At a series of eight banquets held in October throughout Hy-Vee’s eight-state operating territory this year, the company will pay tribute to employees reaching service milestones ranging from five to 45 years.
In addition, this year Hy-Vee honors more than 2,000 employees with 20 years or more of continuous service to the company, as well as 10 employees who were recently inducted into the Hy-Vee Hall of Fame as recipients of the 2013 Legendary Customer Service Award.
Employees celebrating service anniversaries receive customized gifts that increase in value as the years of service increase. In addition, their photos are published in a special souvenir book distributed throughout the company.
Recipients also receive personal congratulations from Hy-Vee chairman and chief-executive officer Randy Edeker, who poses for a commemorative photo with each Service Award recipient.
“Honoring our employee-owners for their service to the company is one of the most important things we do at Hy-Vee,” Edeker said. “These men and women are the ones who bring the ‘helpful smile in every aisle’ to life in our stores. Without them, there would be no Hy-Vee, so we make sure to let them know how much we value and appreciate their commitment to their customers, their co-workers and their communities.”
The two Service Award recipients from Osceola were honored at a banquet held Oct. 21 in Des Moines. Those reaching service milestones this year were:

Hy-Vee recognizes all our employees with over 20 years of service: Tom Koffman – 22 years, Ralph Stevens – 24 years and Kathy Schultz – 34 years.
