Clarke boys eighth at Creston

CRESTON — The Clarke boys cross country team placed eighth out of nine teams here on Sept. 24 at the Creston Invitational with 236 team points, while the girls varsity team finished 10th out of 10 teams with 279 points.

Ian Showers led the way for the Indians, finishing 10th overall in Class A, earning a top-25 medal. Showers covered the 5K course in 18:16. Jake Manternach was next for the Indians, placing 42nd in 20:09.

Nick Johnston finished 57th in 22:14, while James Robinson was 58th in 22:22. Nick Norris rounded out the scoring for the Indians with a 59th-place finish in 22:44.

Nathan McCann finished 85th in the boys JV race, running 27:07.

Lindsey Mumaw paced the Clarke girls, finishing 45th in 20:01 for the 4K course at Southwestern Community College and Crestmoor Golf Club. Tiffany McKnight followed closely behind in 48th place, running 20:22.

Alyssa Luloff ran 23:37 to finish 61st, followed by Mayela Vega (62nd) in 23:49 and Samaria Parada (63rd) in 23:59.

For the Clarke middle schoolers, Kyle Shields finished ninth overall in the middle school race, which combined seventh and eighth graders. Shields ran 15:48 for the 2-mile course. Also earning a top-25 ribbon for the Lady Indians was Chelsea Selsor, who ran 16:35 for 20th.

Hallee Ashby placed 27th in 17:30, followed by Autum Ashby in 35th at 18:24. Megan Johnston ran 21:58 for 53rd.

On the boys side, Ryan Walters led the way, earning a ribbon with his 22nd-place performance. Walters ran 15:11. Parker Hardy just missed out on a ribbon with his 27th-place performance in 15:36.

Timber Kent was close behind in 28th, running 15:43. Jack Kjellsen finished 52nd in 18:22 and Trevor Daughenbaugh ran 19:43 for 56th.
