Murray 3, O-M 0

MURRAY — Tenth-ranked Murray improved to 5-0 with a 25-5, 25-11, 25-23 victory over Orient-Macksburg Thursday night.

The Bulldogs fell to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the Bluegrass Conference.

Hannah Barber was a force for the Mustangs with 12 kills while hitting 23-25. Cheyanne Ashby hit 12-16 with six kills.

Kate Patton had an efficient night, serving 22-23 with eight aces while setting 48-49 with 30 assists. Barber served 12-12 with seven aces and McKenzie Case was perfect in 10 serves with four aces.

Megan Oswald had a team-high eight digs and was 6-10 on serve receive. Chellsea Jones had six digs and went 5-5 in receiving serve.

“We played well in all the games, but in the third we let them stick around with us,” Murray coach Jerry Shields said. “We stopped communicating and attacking.”

CORYDON —Murray went 5-0 at the Wayne Tournament here on Saturday, winning the tournament championship.

The Mustangs didn’t lose a single set throughout the tournament, with wins over Melcher-Dallas, Central Decatur, Moravia, Southeast Warren and Moravia a second time.

Hannah Barber had a big tournament with 40 kills and 10 aces on 54-of-57 serving. She also finished 22-22 in serve receive and had four blocks with 20 digs.

Megan Oswald recorded 20 kills and 10 blocks, going 23-26 on serve receive and contributing a team-high 22 digs. Cheyanne Ashby finished with 17 kills and nine blocks. Jade Lecy totaled 12 kills and 13 blocks.

Kate Patton served 59-of-60 with 11 aces and set 46 assists.

The Mustangs, now 10-0 for the season, return to action today at Bussey against Twin Cedars.
