Helen Horton, 93, of Indianola died Aug. 22, 2013, at her home.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Indianola Regular Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Interment of cremains will be in I.O.O.F. Helen Elaine Brammer, daughter of Albert and Blanche Brammer, was born April 1, 1920, in Grand River.
On Aug. 8, 1938, Helen married Harold Thomas Horton.
Helen was retired from Iowa Power and Light.
She was an active member of Indianola Regular Baptist Church.
Helen is survived by her children, Sharon Kerns of Spokane, Wash., Jerry (Anita) Horton of The Villages, Fla., and Katy Durham (Rick Meehan) of Ocean City, Md.; grandchildren, Thomas (Jackie) Kerns of Sacramento, Calif., Joseph Kerns of Spokane, Wash., Cherie Morris of Mangum, Okla., Daniel Kerns of Spokane, Wash., Paul (Nancy) Horton and Tim (Lisa) Horton, all of Indianola, Jennifer (Kirk) Shultice of Altoona, Dave (Joni) Horton of Milo, Kelly (Greg) Sobol-Kuykendall of Oak Hill, Va.,
Nick (Jody) Durham of Wake Forest, N.C., Amy Durham of Oak Hill, Va., and Brandy Durham of Ocean City, Md.; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Alberta Wilcox of Osceola and Naomi Johnson of Truro; many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband; five brothers; sister Margaret Wilkinson; son-in-law Larry Kerns and great-grandson Bobby Kerns.
