Luella Bishop, 86, of Algona died Aug. 27, 2013, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
A private family graveside memorial service for Luella will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Highway 18 West, Mason City. The Rev. Ed Bard, hospice chaplain at Hospice of North Iowa, will officiate. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of arrangements.
Luella Marie Bishop, daughter of Bertha Elta (Smith) and Arthur Elroy Jenkins, was born April 26, 1927, in Benedict, Neb.
Luella attended grade school in Benedict, Neb., and graduated from Leroy High School.
After completing her schooling, Luella worked for Travelers Life Insurance Company in Des Moines and the drug store in Osceola.
On Aug. 19, 1946, Luella married Loren B. Bishop in Hiawatha, Kan.
In 1952, they moved to Emmetsburg, where she worked as a switch board operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.
Luella was a member of the United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg and Algona.
In 1960, they moved to Algona, where she helped her husband building their home.
Luella also worked for Bomgaars Department Store in Algona.
Luella is survived by her husband Loren B. Bishop of Algona; children, Linda (Ronald) Hughes of Luana, Lana Sue (Richard) Hanson of Hackensack, Minn., Mark (Debra) Bishop of Carrollton, Texas, and Marty (Dung) Bishop of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Louise Anderson of Des Moines; brother Norman (Judy) Jenkins of Weldon; several nieces, nephews, many extended family members and friends.
Luella was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Daryl Anderson.
