National Thank A Police Officer Day is scheduled Sept. 21.
Chances are, at one time or another, an officer has been there to assist you or a family member in a time of need.
Police officers are men and women who are the front lines of defense at home. When they go on duty each shift, they never know what they might encounter.
Depending on the time of day and where they work, it could be quiet and routine, or it could be pandemonium. However, police officers are used to this and willingly step into this role.
The public is encouraged to tell an officer, deputy or state-patrol officer thank you.
