Second annual Sportsman’s Banquet scheduled

In 2012, Osceola Chamber Main Street and Clarke County State Bank hosted the first ever Sportsman’s Banquet at Clarke County Fairgrounds and Event Center. The event was a fundraiser focused on the great outdoors, such as camping, hunting, fishing and boating. Now, it is time for the second annual Sportsman’s Banquet.

The second annual Sportsman’s Banquet will take place 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Clarke County Fairgrounds and Event Center. There will be a host of activities, including a kids’ raffle, ladies’ raffle, live and silent auctions, dinner, games and more. Plus, people may look around at area business booths that are taking part in the event, as well.

“The money being raised at this event will go to help improve Osceola’s recreational activities,” stated Derek Lumsden, executive director of Osceola Chamber Main Street. “We are working with the city of Osceola to build multi-use recreational trails at Q-Pond Park that can be used year-round to keep people active.”

City Administrator Ty Wheeler said, “The project is a great collaborative effort between the city and Osceola Chamber Main Street. We hope to keep building sections of trails each year as the funds become available and the community’s support of the Sportsman’s Banquet helps make that happen.”

The plan is to start building the trails in the summer of 2014 with enough financing in place.

If people would like to be part of the event, they may buy tickets at the OCMS office at 115 E. Washington St. If you buy your tickets by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, you will be entered into an Early Bird raffle. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids ages 12 and under.
