Lillian ‘Polly’ Price Waterloo

Lillian “Polly” Price, 97, of Waterloo, formerly of Grundy Center, died Aug. 20, 2013, at Friendship Village Retirement Center.

Memorial services were held Thursday, Aug. 22, at the Friendship Village Chapel in Waterloo. Inurnment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Salvation Army, NE Iowa Food Bank, MAP International, 4700 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA  31525, or Friendship Village Auxiliary. Lillian “Polly” Price, daughter of Clara L. (Paddock) and Robert E. Kaufman, was born Aug. 30, 1915, on the Sam Mooty farm outside of Morrison.

Polly graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1933, attended Iowa State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in home economics from Iowa State Teachers College in 1949. Polly taught country school in rural Grundy counties for six years.

On Jan. 2, 1943, Polly married Maurice Eugene Foster in Ames. He died April 8, 1946.

On Aug. 21, 1948, Polly married John “LeRoy” Price in Grundy Center. He died Nov. 4, 1993.

In 1955, Polly worked for Clarke County Extension as a home economist. Later she transferred to Grundy County Extension and served several counties. She retired from Grundy County Extension in 1976.

After moving to Friendship Village in 2003, Polly became a member of the Scottish Heritage Club.

Polly is survived by her daughter Maurine (Jerry) Huang of Carmichael, Calif.; stepson Don (Helen) Price of Eldora; foster daughter Linda (Larry) Coffman of Seaford, Del.; brother Arthur (Marjorie) Kaufman of Waukesha, Wis.; grandchildren, Doug (Denise) Price, Carol (Walter) Spurling, David (Frieda) Price, Evan Price, Lynn (Dustin) Farnum, Mark Huang and Dorothy Huang; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and five nephews.
