Helen Selsor Osceola

Helen Selsor, 90, of Osceola died Aug. 17, 2013, at Southern Hills Specialty Care.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiated. Interment was in Hopeville Cemetery. Helen Vaniece Selsor, daughter of Ina Francis (Bagley) and Joe Chew, was born March 25, 1923, in Murray.

Helen grew up in the Murray area, where she attended Murray High School.

On Aug. 18, 1940, Helen married Paul Arthur Selsor in Murray.

Helen and Paul moved to Des Moines in 1951, and Helen worked for Farm Bureau Insurance in Des Moines for 25 years.

After retirement, Helen and Paul moved to the farm.

Helen was a member of Hopeville Ladies Auxiliary.

Helen is survived by her daughter Karen (Allen) Perry of Mandeville, La.; son Danny (Cathy) Selsor of Des Moines; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Alma Selsor of Thayer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband two weeks ago; mother-in-law Birdetta Selsor; father-in-law Steven Selsor; grandson Danny Paul Selsor II; sister Willene Davis; brother Cecil Montelle Chew; brothers-in-law, Burton, Elmer and Edward Selsor and Glen Davis; and sisters-in-law, Opal Arlene Kirkwood, Mabel Swaim, Minnie Siefkas, Viola Davis, Pauline Baker, Bessie Siefkas and Mildred Chew.
