Albert Hildreth, 79, of Osceola died July 23, 2013, at Clarke County Hospital.
Services were 10:30 a.m. Friday July 26, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. The Rev. Cass Young officiated. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Albert LaVerne Hildreth, son of Edythe E. (Kuehl) and Albert B. Hildreth, was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Des Moines.
Albert received his education in Des Moines and Norwalk. His father died when he was 16, and Al worked to help support the family. Al later moved to Osceola, where he completed his education, graduating in 1955.
On Jan. 19, 1955, Al married Joyce Ferber in Des Moines.
Al served with the United States Air Force for four years and later the Air National Guard for another four years, before returning to the farm.
Al became a member of the Lutheran Church at an early age. Over the years, he was a member of the Clarke County Cattleman’s Association, of which he and Joyce were lifetime members, and Herndon-Oehlert American Legion Post No. 157 in Woodburn.
Al also sold BG farm products and Crows seed for many years.
Al is survived by his children, Dennis (Joy) Hildreth, Dale (Val Wilkins) Hildreth, Debbie (John) Sullivan and Dean (Marti) Hildreth, all of Osceola; grandchildren, Suzanne (Jason) Hitt of Derby, Kasandra (Pete Wasson) Hildreth of Douglas, Wyo., Gregory Hildreth of Woodburn, Steven (Becky) Hildreth of Newton, Jennifer (David) Decker of Murray, Cherie (Shawn) Brown of Ankeny, Angela (Chris Woods) Hildreth of Van Meter, Jamie (Bryan) Duddy of St. Joseph, Mo., Jared Sullivan of Des Moines, Jessica (Tanner) Pitts of Osceola and Bailie Hildreth of Osceola; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Carol Flaherty of Texas, and Pam (Vaughn) Bowling of Verona, Mo.; friends, Kenny and Cathy and their family, Andy and visitors, Brad and Aubrie, Joanne and Anna; along with his friends and coffee group at Homestead of Osceola.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepfather Perk Carlson; half brothers, Elmo Hildreth and his wife Velma and Glen Hildreth and his wife Daisy;
half sister, Imo Lepley and her husband Johnny; and mother- and father-in-law Opal and Floyd Ferber.
