If you go to a Granger Smith concert, you will see more than one star of the show. Smith has an alter-ego — Earl Dibbles Jr.

"I kind of look at it like this — one doesn't really exist as well without the other," Smith said in an Osceola Sentinel-Tribune interview July 1.

The Texas born-and-bred singer/songwriter, Smith described his music as "neo-traditional" country and rock. Dibbles, who also has his own style of music, is a stereotypical country boy.

"I wake up. Put a good dip in. Crack a cold one. Get dressed and start the day." That is what is written in the "About" section on the website for Dibbles.

Smith will be playing a concert at The Woodshed in Leon Friday, July 26. Information on tickets can be found at

Smith’s ninth studio album "Dirt Road Driveway" was released April 16 and debuted at No.1 on the iTunes Country Chart. The album features the top-five hit, “We Do It In A Field,” and the new summer anthem, “Silverado Bench Seat.”

The album also debuted at No. 15 on the Top Billboard Country Albums chart.

"It's really become a part of my life, a job that I love," Smith said. "I love hitting the road. I love meeting new people."

Then, there's Dibble's musical success, including the music video for "The Country Boy Song," which has more than 3.3 million views on YouTube.

Smith said Dibbles came into existence with him making funny videos and posting them on YouTube. He said the Dibbles "persona took off and went viral."

Dibbles makes appearances at the end of Smith's concerts, after a wardrobe change.

"It's been a really, really fun part of our show," Smith said.

There's a "black and white contrast" between Smith and his alter-ego, he said.

"The two of them exist and make each other a little bit better," Smith said.
