Chester William Burk Sr. Truro

Chester William Burk Sr., 81, of Truro died June 17, 2013, at his home in Truro.

Graveside services were10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Young Cemetery in Truro. The Rev. Ron Mohr officiated. Interment was in the Young Cemetery. Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola, was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Chester William Burk Sr., son of Pearl Louise (Bahner) and Chester William Burk, was born Nov. 15, 1931, in Des Moines.

Chester received his education in the Des Moines School System.

On July 12, 1961, Chester married Bernice Laura Gragert in Salex.

Chester worked as a welder at PDM for many years and on the arch in Saint Louis, Mo.

Chester was a maintenance machinist for Great Plains Bag Company (Stone Container) for 34 years.

Chester was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Martensdale.

Chester is survived by his children, Linda Vee (Martin) Lemieux of Lakewood, Colo., Ernest W. (Grace) Froehlich of Lake Wales, Fla., Bernice “Laura” (Dale) Kitner of Osceola, Virginia R. (William) Jacobe of Truro and Chester “Bill” (Kristin) Burk Jr. of Creston; sisters, Virginia Burk of Adel and Alberta Pitman of Des Moines; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 2011; daughter Marilyn Katherine; and grandson Kenneth Burk.
