Facilities open for use at Rathbun despite high water

CENTERVILLE — With high water levels at Rathbun Lake this spring, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reports the lake has crested and is lowering and that park facilities are open and ready for use.

Project personnel are discharging 2,000 cubic feet per second from the dam, which will lower the lake approximately one foot per week.

Island View park continues to have some site closures, but all other park’s sites are available. Beaches are likely to remain closed until after July 4.

A majority of boat ramps are open. Island View, Buck Creek, Bridge View and Prairie Ridge and Honey Creek State Park all have ramps that are open. Some courtesy docks may not be installed yet because of higher lake levels.

Marina concession areas at Buck Creek and South Fork are open including “Louie’s On The Lake” restaurant at Buck Creek Marina.

Honey Creek Resort State Park is open with few impacts from high lake levels. The Preserve at Rathbun Lake golf course has all 18 holes available for play.
