Jeanette Fry Van Wert

Jeanette Fry, 87, of Van Wert died June 11, 2013, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Van Wert Assemble of God Church. The Rev. Chuck DeVos officiated. Interment was in Van Wert Cemetery. Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to her family to be decided on at a later date.

Ruth Jeanette Fry, daughter of Ruth (Hughes) and William Lewis, was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Clarke County.

Jeanette grew up and lived her life within a five-mile radius of her parent’s home in Clarke and Decatur counties.

On Dec. 1, 1944, Jeanette married Donald Dale Fry in Leon.

Jeanette was a farmwife. She and Don raised their daughters while farming in Decatur County.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Donna Jean (husband Robert) Hatfield and Wanda Delong, all of Van Wert; grandson William “Billy” Dale (wife Rebecca) Delong of Leon; great-grandchildren, Madison, Ashley and Weston Delong, all of Leon, and Casey Tyler, Charmayne Dakota and Christopher Patrick DeLong, all of Wyoming; sister Margaret Hall of Altoona; sisters-in-law, Waneta Lewis of Weldon and Dorothy Lewis of Osceola; friend Gretchen Hagen of Osceola; other relatives and many friends.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband; grandson Darrin Robert Hatfield; parents; sisters, Francis Smith and Irene Hall; and brothers, John, Reece, Bob, Leland and Russell Lewis.
