Murray 11,

Mount Ayr 1

MURRAY — Murray senior Austin Halls struck out eight batters and allowed just one hit in five innings in an 11-1 win over Mount Ayr here on June 3.

Halls also drove in three runs at the plate, helping his own cause. Pat Kilmer and Cody Scroggie each finished with three hits.

Braydon Held went 2-for-3 at the plate with and RBI. Murray totaled 15 hits as a team and scored eight of its 11 runs in the second inning.

Murray 13, Seymour 2

SEYMOUR — A balanced offensive effort led Murray to a 13-2 five-inning victory over Seymour here on June 4.

The Mustangs recorded 10 hits as a team in the win.

Cody Scroggie went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in. Raymond Barlage was 2-3 with a run scored. Justin Jones went 1-2 with an RBI and Sam Rockhold went 2-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Braydon Held picked up the win, throwing all five innings and allowing just two hits with six strikeouts.

Murray 15,

Moravia 1

MORAVIA — Murray had 12 hits and 10 stolen bases in racing to a 15-1 victory over Moravia on June 6.

Cody Scroggie was 2-for-4 with three RBI and four runs scored for Murray, 5-3. Corey McCracken also had two hits with two RBI. Raymond Barlage had two hits with three runs, Pat Kilmer drove in two runs on two hits and Braydon Held knocked in a run with two hits.

Held also picked up the pitching win on 3 1/3 no-hit innings, collecting four strikeouts.

Murray 6,

Melcher-Dallas 1

MURRAY — Seven walks helped Murray pick up a 6-1 win over Melcher-Dallas here on Friday.

The Mustangs collected six hits as a team in the win.

Cody Scroggie went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored. Austin Halls went 3-4 with a pair of doubles, while Corey McCracken and Justin Jones each drove in one run.

Scroggie earned the win on the hill, pitching a complete game two-hitter, walking four and striking out six.

“Cody pitched a good game tonight, and as a leadoff man, he really sets the table for us,” head coach Travis Held said. “He was on base four times tonight and had four stolen bases.”

MSM 11,

Central Decatur 1

ST. MARYS — Central Decatur fell to a tough Martensdale-St. Marys team 11-1 here on June 6.

Trevor Greenland and Matt Marvin each hit a double for the Cardinals. Bryson Durrow and Marvine each finished with one stolen base.

Central Decatur only managed four hits against Martensdale-St. Marys, the defending state champion in Class 1A.

Nick Horney took the loss for the Cardinals, pitching 3 2/3 innings with nine runs on seven hits, while striking out two and walking two. Conner Welch pitched an inning of relief, allowing two runs on three hits with one walk.

Central Decatur 8, Nodaway Valley 5

GREENFIELD — Central Decatur used a balanced effort to pick up an 8-5 win over Nodaway Valley here on Friday.

The Cardinals stole nine bases in the game, including three each by Trevor Greenland and Joey Marcus.

Bryson Durrow, Nick Horney, Kyle Palmer, Jon Simmons and Daniel Weir each drove in one run in the win.

Marcus picked up the win on the mound, throwing four innings and giving up five runs on five hits with five walks and four strikeouts.

Matt Marvin pitched three innings of relief, allowing just one hit and striking out seven.
