Oma Smith Panora

Oma Smith, 91, of Panora died May 31, 2013.

Services were 11 a.m. today, June 6, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. The Rev. Gary Freeland officiated. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Christian Church, 300 S. Main St., Osceola, IA 50213 or Osceola Senior Citizens Center, 114 S. Fillmore St., Osceola, IA 50213.

Oma Evelyn Smith, daughter of Maude Ellen (Browns) and Herbert Ezra Warren, was born July 12, 1921, in Murray.

Oma received her education at Washington Township Country School and graduated from Osceola High School in 1939.

On March 9, 1940, Oma married Harry Loyd Smith in Lamoni.

Oma worked as a cook for Central Decatur Schools from 1962-1969 and also in three restaurants.

Oma was a member of Sarah Rebekah Lodge No. 57 in Osceola.

Oma is survived by her daughters, Dianna (Rick) Parker of Panora and Donna Smith of Des Moines; grandchildren, Patrick (Melanie) Parker of Panora, Robert (Jenny) Parker of Des Moines and Christina (Steve) Hillgren of Earlham; great-grandchildren, Brittany Johnson, Nicholas Parker and Jessica and Lane Parker and Logan Hillgren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Oma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Carl, Don, Dale, Herbert Jr. and Bobby Warren; and sisters, Opal Thompson and Agnes Taylor.
