CD’s Simon 22nd at Class 2A state golf

LIVERMORE — Central Decatur sophomore Noah Simon placed 22nd overall in the Class 2A State Golf Tournament here at Spring Valley Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.

Simon shot an 18-hole score of 83 on Friday to enter Saturday eight strokes back of leader Mike Myers of Emmetsburg.

Simon shot a round of 84 on Saturday to post a 36-hole score of 167 to finish 22nd overall.

Among state meet qualifiers who are eligible to return next year, Simon finished 16th. He placed third among sophomores and only one freshman finished ahead of him, leaving a bright future for the Central Decatur sophomore.

Myers shot an 83 on Saturday to fade into a tie for fifth place at 158. Waterloo Columbus Catholic senior Jack Conway won the individual title with a total score of 150, winning by two strokes over Des Moines Christian junior Ryan Minor.

PCM, Monroe senior Hunter Van Veen finished third overall with a total score of 154 and Fort Dodge St. Edmond sophomore Eddie Doyle finished fourth at 157.

Waterloo Columbus Catholic won the team title with a total team score of 632 as PCM, Monroe finished second at 647. South Hamilton placed third with a team score of 657.
