CD golfers advance to state

Central Decatur sophomore Noah Simon advanced to the Boys State Golf Meet Friday and Saturday at Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore.

Simon tied for fourth at the Class 2A District Meet at Lake Panorama National on Friday, earning the final individual qualifying spot.

The top two teams and five individuals from each district advanced to the state meet.

Simon shot a round of 77 to tie with PCM's Hunter Van Veen for fourth place.

Meanwhile, the Central Decatur girls golf team qualified for the state meet, placing second at the Class 2A Region 2 Meet in Underwood at Quail Run Golf Club on Monday.

Audubon won the team title with a team score of 354, while Central Decatur took the final qualifying spot with a team score of 373.

Senior Sadie Greene also qualified as an individual for the state meet, shooting an 18-hole score of 87.

The Girls State Golf Meet, held May 28-29, is at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
