Marcia Craig Cedar Rapids

Marcia L. Craig, 87, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died May 13, 2013, at Seasons Hospice Palliative Care in Naperville, Ill.

Services were 3 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Dave Higdon officiated. Burial was at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Sugar Grove United Methodist Church Sunday School Department, 176 Main St., Sugar Grove, IL 60554.

Marcia L. Craig, daughter of Ella (Kelley) and Henry Siefkas, was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Osceola.

On May 31, 1952, Marcia married Herbert E. Craig at The Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Marcia graduated from University of Northern Iowa with a teacher’s degree. She taught at several country schools in Clarke County and kindergarten in Pella.

She was a 4-H leader for the Clover Pals in Clarke County.

After moving to Illinois, Marcia worked at Four Seasons Nursing Home in Aurora, Ill.

Marcia was an active member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 15 years.

Marcia is survived by her sons, Doug (Betty) Craig of Osceola, Jeff (Rene) Craig of Big Rock, Ill., and Greg (Karen) Craig of Sandwich, Ill.; sister Enid Kendall of Osceola; grandchildren, Wendy (Brian) Short, Jenna (Josh) Johnson and Tobby, Nolan, Ben, Colton and Brad Craig; and great-grandchildren, Jolie, Jeron, Jacey, Lucas, Kaleb and Nolan.

Marcia was preceded in death by her husband; parents; teenage sister Myrna Delene Siefkas and an infant brother.
