Gary Chew West Des Moines

Gary W. Chew, 70, of West Des Moines died Jan. 20, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Graveside services were 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Maple Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiated. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.

Gary W. Chew, son of Dale and Verna Chew, was born Nov. 1, 1942, in Osceola.

Gary was a senior design engineer at BF Goodrich Aerospace.

Gary was an honorary member of the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department and lifetime member of the NRA.

Gary is survived by his wife Phyllis Hetheriton of West Des Monies; mother Verna Chew of Osceola; son Mark (Tamera) Chew of Panora; daughter Marti (Dean) Hildreth of Osceola; grandchildren, Tiara (Dylan) Carter, Jessica Hildreth (Tanner Pitts) and Bailie Hildreth (Adam Scott); sister Cheryl (Clifford) Phipps of Nevada; nieces, Shawn Phipps and Kris (Mike) Wright; and great-nephew Connor Hines.

Gary was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy and father.
