Richard Ries, 79, of Des Moines, formerly of Saint Charles, died May 6, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., Osceola. Interment was in Murray Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Central Hawkeye Gas Engine and Tractor Association. Online condolences may be left at www.kalefuneralhome.com.
Richard Clare Ries, son of Mona Maxine (Rice) and Leland I. Ries, was born April 11, 1934, in Murray.
Richard grew up in Murray, then moved to Des Moines, where he was a heavy equipment operator, driving a Cat for Nelson Development for more than 20 years.
He lived in Saint Charles for 15 years before moving back to Des Moines three years ago.
Richard was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 109 in Des Moines and Central Hawkeye Gas Engine and Tractor Association.
Richard is survived by his daughter Debra (Jim) Turner of Des Moines; sons, Randy (Rhonda) Ries of Bondurant, Rick (Shauna) Ries of Des Moines and Jeff (Julie) Ries of Prole; grandson Jeremy (Shannon) Turner of Des Moines; other grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; wife Deloris and brother Larry.
